"You can´t fail by trying!"

Maria Michaelis

Medical Doctor

Hi, I´m Maria! I live in Hamburg, Germany, where I work as a doctor. I´m married and I have two daughters. Running has been in my life since I was in school. When I got older I saw running as an easy and effective way to be active even if you don´t have much time for workout. Running a marathon was on my bucket list for a long time but first my studies, then my job and an injury kept me from running more often. After having my second daughter I wanted to get fit again and started running on a more regular basis with the goal to run my first marathon, which I did in 2017. It was a great experience and the training had a positive impact on my life, body and mind. As a doctor I´m promoting a healthy lifestyle and as a mother I want to be a good example for my kids to stay active throughout their entire life. I want to keep running in my life as in my opinion it is the perfect sport: you can do it everywhere, anytime, alone or in company.

//// Why did you start running - what was your motivation?

Running is one of the easiest and most effective ways to stay active. I run because I feel the positive effects it has on my life, body and mind. I want to be a positive example to my kids/my patients/friends.

//// Do you remember your first race? How was your feeling when you finished?

YESSS! My first marathon in 2017 - I enjoyed the entire race, the audience, the scenery, everything. I was so overwhelmed that I actually did it - something that has been on my bucket list forever. I could not believe that I had no pain or sore muscles during the race or after. Truly beyond expectations.

//// What is the one run you'll never forget, and why?

It was the first long run I did. It was on Maui, Hawaii where it was hot, humid, no one on the streets and I had to run up steep hills. I was very exhausted but I promised myself not to stop but to keep on running no matter what. I did and I was so proud of myself and what my body and mind are capable of.

//// Why are you a 361° ambassador? What motivates you to go beyond expectations?

I´m a 361° ambassador because I can identify with the brand´s motto "to go beyond expectations". We all should set our own goals - it doesn´t matter if it is finishing your first 5k run or if you want to run to China ;-) - go beyond what you (and maybe others) think you are capable of! As 361° ambassador I want to promote this motto and inspire others to go out there, be active and go beyond their own expectations.
I can truly recommend the 361° running shoes and apparel as I love their comfort, quality and style.
